Last updated: May 1, 2026 · Effective: May 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Taskhogs ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, shares, and safeguards personal data when you use our website, book a tasker, apply as a tasker, or otherwise interact with our services (collectively, the "Service"). It also describes your privacy rights and how to exercise them.

1. Introduction

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Policy applies to all personal data we process about customers, taskers, applicants, and visitors. By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who We Are

Taskhogs is the data controller responsible for the personal data processed through the Service, except where we act as a processor on behalf of a tasker or business customer. You can reach us via the contact page.

3. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), phone number, profile photo, and authentication identifiers (e.g., Google sign-in).
  • Booking data: service address, job details, time slots, photos you upload, and special instructions.
  • Payment data: billing details and partial card information. Full card numbers are processed by our payment provider and never stored on our servers.
  • Messaging data: the content of messages exchanged through the in-app inbox, including timestamps and read receipts.
  • Tasker application data: work history, certifications, identification documents, background-check results (where lawful), and references.
  • Device & usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and interaction events.
  • Location data: approximate location derived from IP address, and precise location only where you explicitly provide a service address or grant permission.
  • Communications: records of your interactions with our support team, including emails and call notes.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate sign-ins.
  • Match customers with taskers and process bookings end-to-end.
  • Process payments, refunds, and tasker payouts.
  • Enable in-app messaging and customer support.
  • Send booking confirmations, reminders, and operational notifications.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Improve the Service through analytics, A/B testing, and product research.
  • Send marketing communications where permitted (you can opt out at any time).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

6. How We Share Your Data

We share personal data only as needed and with appropriate safeguards:

  • Taskers: the customer's name, service address, contact details, and job description are shared with the assigned tasker to perform the booking.
  • Customers: a tasker's name, photo, rating, and skills are shown to customers.
  • Service providers: hosting, authentication, payments, email, analytics, identity verification, and customer support tools. These vendors process data only on our instructions.
  • Legal & safety: law-enforcement, regulators, or other parties when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
  • Corporate transactions: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, with continued protection of your data.

We do not sell your personal data in the conventional sense.

7. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. When we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or equivalent mechanisms.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. Typical retention periods include:

  • Account data: while your account is active and up to 24 months after closure.
  • Booking and payment records: up to 7 years to comply with tax and accounting laws.
  • Messages: up to 24 months after the related booking is closed.
  • Marketing preferences: until you withdraw consent or object.
  • Background-check results: only as long as legally permitted.

9. How We Protect Your Data

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive fields, role-based access controls, audit logging, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

10. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and (where you consent) personalize marketing. You can manage cookies through your browser settings or our cookie banner where available. Blocking certain cookies may affect Service functionality.

11. Marketing Communications

With your consent or where otherwise permitted, we may send you news, offers, and product updates by email, SMS, or push notification. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, replying STOP to SMS messages, or updating your account preferences.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights from your account settings or by contacting us. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

13. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

14. Automated Decisions & Profiling

We may use automated systems to detect fraud, screen tasker applications, match customers with taskers, and personalize content. We do not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you solely by automated means without human review, except where permitted by law.

15. Third-Party Services & Links

The Service integrates with third parties (e.g., payment processors, identity providers, maps). Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

16. Regional Disclosures (EEA/UK & California)

EEA & UK residents

You have the rights described in Section 12 and may contact our representative or your local supervisory authority. We rely on the legal bases described in Section 5.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or through the Service before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
